funily enough ive just been doing that on mine,i used to have some foam tape stuff but it melts with the heat,i used some bleed nipple covers from a vauxhall over the head of a self tapper, they keep the bonnet and side apart by about 6mm,it lets extra air out as well

assuming you have no foam under the front or rear of the bonnet i think thats as good as you are going to get it

Looks as if the bonnet is wrong, not a very good fit is it ??

Be even worse if you fit foam under the supporting lips

It looks as if you need to cut away the bottom of the nose cone to allow it to fit over the front lower wishbone brackets.
This also may alter your nosecone angle and the hight lifting the bonnet gap.
It may or may not help your bonnet clearance but you must get your nosecone back to the chassis correctly first.

After looking at your pics again, your nosecone is not running horizontal along the chassis rail top,you must grind the nosecone as I said before,we all have had to do this as standard, also you may have to shim up the front of the nosecone because of the way you have cut your sidepanels short.
Dont forget when you get everything fitting better your bonnet fasteners will pull your side gaps down,as mine do with my ally bonnet which also helps keep it a tight fit and reduce vibration.
You could also use a rotary file or 80 grit paper to relieve any bumps(very carefully) in the fibreglass underneath the bonnet edges.
You may also have the scuttle too far forward ,or the bonnet too long and the edges of the bonnet may be riding up the radius of the recess at the nose end.
Just get the nose right first and work your way backwards, hope this helps.
Dean.

Hi Lenny,

I know exactly what you are going through, I have literrally just gone through this and to be honest some of it just comes down to the fact that the panels are not great.

I got a tip from the guys at MAC1 (which is where I seem to get most of my tips , thanks guys!) and they suggested shaving some fibreglass off the front and back edges on the underside of the bonnet, this then makes the bonnet sit lower.

Also you should put a strip of foam along the side panel which will fill the gap slightly, some people go all the way along under the scuttle too but in your case you could just go from in front of the scuttle to the nosecone.

I also found my battery tray\bulkhead didn't help matters so i am going to cut the edge away so it doesn't overlap the side panels and just fix it at the front edge.

Also once you have the catches on it will help pull the bonnet down and you could try just pulling the nosecone back a little which may help the bonnet sit better.

To be honest it is a bit of trial and error and I found it very frustrating although in the end it looks ok but would still like it better!

Good luck.
Rich.

I dont think that looks bad, considering it is fibeerglass... Shaving the front of the bonnet as alraedy mentioned is what we had to do.

Cut the top off the sidepanel where the nosecone sits on it to get it down a bit more. Sould give you a bit more adjustment. Rescued attachment mksidepanel.jpg

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.
