which Indy chassis and gearbox??

Just picked up my project in England and noticed the chassis is different from the new MK Indy chassis. Anyone recon this and what date is it. Seller said about 2 yrs old.
Does a MT75 gearbox fit, or do I need a type 9 box? Opening between the feet bays is 29,5 cm.

Just started to take all parts off and cleaning it up and painting it again.
Diff sais 83BG-4025-BE and 25B. any resons about type?

Marcel,

congratulations with your purchase!
As far as I know (but correct me if I'm wrong), the Indy always had independant rear suspension, and bend tubing (for instance at the footwell). I think it is a chassis, build by MK, just before they launched the Indy.
But I like it! It looks great!

I just ran into the garage to measure the opening in my chassis. It's modified by MK to take the MT75 (but I'm using Type9). The opening is much less than 29,5 cm (more like 25 cm). But it's more difficult to measure, because of the curvature.

I think it's safe to say the MT75 will fit.

And now: ENJOY!

Marcel

I fitted a MT75 in an Indy but mine is different in that the start of the transmission tunnel is curved and panelled.

There is a picture of my gearbox in place on my archive, i think its under "MT75 Gearbox". Now theres a surprise!

Is it an Indy?

AFAIK - MK have never made the rear panel brace like that, or the plated rear section. The footwells seem non-MK too.

Of course I'm probably wrong... so I stand corrected!

I pretty sure it is an Indy, because all the parts are the same. The chassis is the same as the fabric first MKbike car as on the pic. The polyester panels are also from an MK Indy.
I jus wonder when they made this type of chassis, because the new ones have the side next to the seats lowering down, and this one is horizontal like the one in the pic. Rescued attachment mkbike.jpg

Yep its a Early MK Same as mine. Snoopy confirmed this a while back when I switched to Bec instead of the boat anchor........runs and ducks......... Recon its two years and a few months old. (me 1year + 1st owner 1 and a bit years......)

Next you will need a special shaped tank from the normal as the panhard rod sits right in the way.....
