Not seen a zx9 before but 8psi might be a bit high without gasket and compression changes 6 psi should be ok as a max etc,,
May be speak to some one like mb customs Malcolm there he may be able to help cheers
Or I'm sure some others can be more helpful,
I used a tdo4 on a blackbird and they can over boost at top end so hard to get low boost on them ie 6 to 8 psi I found I could not run lower than 9
psi,

Im planning on doing exactly the same as you. I've joined a forum called bike-turbo.com if you have a look in the bec section you will see my
post and the turbos that have been suggested. Firms like hole shot and big cc will do the conversion but the prices are eyewatering.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Do you know of a better turbo that the TD04 then.
If it's overboosing on a bird then it will be too much for a 900 wont it?

One of these should do,
Turbo part number
S70 V70 volvo, should come in at around £50 on Ebay and will boost at 8psi
Integral wastegate and BOV

I was curious about turbo sizes.
I have been toying with the idea of putting a turbo on my bladed Toniq as I have a T25 unit and an intercooler off a 2 wheel drive Cosworth lying in
my shed from a previous project.

normaly if it is overboosting and you cant get boost to sit below a certan psi at high rpm is normaly due for a couple of reasons, the wategate is too
small and can not bypass the exhaust gases quick enough or its over fueling and not buring all the fuel on combustion and the excess fuel is exploding
in the exhaust housing causing it to overboost.
or a faulty actuator.
the problem im having is size-in a turbo to suit the zx9r, ok it only a 900cc and the exhaust gas flow rate is going to be low compaired to a 2000cc
car engine.
im currently looking into~
- a ball bearing turbo for easy spoil up.
- some think used so its not too expensive on the build.
- will produce 8psi from 2500rpm
ive looked into a small turbo from a diesel but theres a number of reasons it wouldent be reliable - oil seals, low rpm design, lower egt the diesel
produces etc
so its got to be from a petrol, some think like a gt2554 but cheap and common.
you can run 8psi with no internal mods on the zx9r (ramair)
also looking into were to pick up a oil supply from or weather a scavange pump is needed, a ball bearing turbo needs less oil compaired to a thrust
bearing turbo.
i also need to make a manifold not quite sure were to start with that, lol any one else done one yet? inlet and exhaust?
thanks for all the help so far

I think you're expecting a bit too much with your aim of having 8psi at 2500RPM, i honestly can't see you having as much boost as that as
early in the revs, and if you do manage it you wont hold it to the top end of the revs.
As to wether or not you need a scavenge pump will depend on your turbo position, if your oil drain/outlet from your turbo is lower than the sump oil
level you will need a pump, if not then you dont.
I have a turbo ZX10R Mac#1, here's my exhaust manifold, turbo, wastegate
Inlet manifold
You can see the internal bellmouths/trumpets
You'll also want to consider a few other things, eg
Clutch - uprated springs as a minimum, possibly a lockup
Cooling system - possibly a larger radiator, find out when you drive it
Charge temps - intercooler or chargecooler
Fueling - bigger injectors and fuel pump, also boost sensitive fuel pressure regulator
