Zetec in an MK?

hiya ppl's. i'm in the market to start my 1st build been looking at a few kits. especially the tiger cat! i've asked about and a lot of people have suggested an MK? but have a couple of questions so i thought i would throw them out to the people in the know.

1. Can a zetec be put in an MK easily?
2. What scope do they have to be upgraded at a later date?

many thanx

Hi Trev,

Before going the Tiger route I would look very carefully at the other options. The kits from MK are fantastic as are the ones from Luego and GTS.

All differ slightly and you need to think very carefully about it before buying so I would suggest a visit to each and poke around the cars and get a test ride in them if possible.

As to your questions:

1. Yes, a Zetec will fit in- it's a common engine.
2. Do you mean what scope does a Zetec have? Or what scope does an MK have?
If you mean the engine then there's loads of upgrade options- from regular tuning like carbs and cams all the way up to Turbo'ing. If you mean MK chassis' then they can be upgraded to any engine you can fit in the chassis. I don't know of any Rover V8s in MKs (because of the size) but I've heard of loads of other things going in. From the basic Pinto engine to bike engines.

Hope that helps,

James

Zetec,

What did that header tank come from?

Cheers,

Westfield, oops sorry can't say that! But it's true. Farted around looking for one in a breakers yard for ages, they supplied it for £25 with a 15psi cap and bracket so got one from them. Must be a standard Ford part.

Think it's gonna be the scrapper for me. Couple of quid's a little more pocket friendly.

Bob,

That looks as though it'll do very nicely. What engine/radiator combo are you using?

Cheers,

Chris.
