engine woes
I'm picking up my kit this weekend and I still have no idea what engine to put in it. At this rate it will be like a flintstones car.
The cheap "use the engine sat in my garage plan" is going to be fairly expensive and probably will end up costing the same as the bike
engine. Going to do some Blackbird and Fireblade hunting this week to see whats about.

By the engine in your garage, do you mean the RST lump?
What's wrong with that?

I decided to sell that. I have a Corsa C16XE lump. Rareish early engine but it's in need of a full rebuild and the conversion parts and when I
start factoring costs its adding up to over a grand. I'm not a penny pincher or expecting to build the car for a minute amount but I want the
best for my money really using alot of parts I already have lying around.

The problem I have with the bike engine is knowing very little about them. which to buy, finding a good one and paying a reasonable price. The actual
fitting of it when i have it shouldnt cause me too much trouble I dont think.
Knowing my luck, i'll end up buying a complete dog of one lol.

Depending what you want the car for depend pretty much which engine you require.
If you want balls out fun with plenty of noise and adrenalin then BEC you must go. Pound for pound these engines provide the most power. Although not
having reverse may seem like a problem it rarely is as you learn to drive not to use it!
If you want a more relaxed quieter ride although still very quick, a Car Engine would be your best choice. You can always upgrade to a higher power
car engine but this generally costs much more than a BE.
Regarding bike engines... they rarely break (some transmissions/clutches are weaker than others) but they generally just keep going and are easy to
repair typically. Dont let not knowing about then put you off....

Right ok, lets say I go for a fireblade. What do I need to get off it or am I better getting the whole bike.
Do I need any documentation from the donor bike for the registering/sva?
I do like the idea of the bike engine keeping weight down, compact, ballistic performance and noise with sequential change. The car is just going to
be solely a toy for having fun with and in so either engine would be ok to fit.

Also, what size van do I need for collecting the chassis. Transit/LWB or something bigger like a sprinter?

hi LWB van
and if your on a general budget for an engine
Id say these two engines
R1 Carb 2000 5JJ engine
or ZX9r newest you can get for your budget
Id look for a bike thats been smashed but has everything on it you need complete engine and bits full wiring loom
fuel pump if you can
ign barrell and switch gear would be a bonus

Go BEC You'll love it!!! Cheap power, furious power : weight ratio etc etc!!! With a BEC you'll have to reckon on changing the clutch
relatively frequently (every year or so) but it's not a major hassle on most bike engines (unlike car engines)....
Just be careful when you choose your differential ratio, it makes a big difference to how many RPM your engine will be doing @ 70mph when driving to /
from places like Donnington. Cruising in a car doing 9000 rpm isn't much fun.... My ST cruises @ legal limit at 5500krpm and that's enough
for me...

Right, well just been onto MK again trying to find out what colour it will be
4007 Purple Violet
Had the chassis modded to accept my current 3 point harnesses then came the question of what engine am I fitting.
So.......i decided to go Blade engined! Tried and tested so can't go wrong! I hope!

Why did you mod the chassis for the harnesses?
Are you sure your 3 points will fit?
