Build Sequence
Having failed to secure a part built Indy on eBay Ive decided to go the whole hog and buy the new kit with a ZX10r engine. However a few questions
before a place my order:
- Is it best to go for the deluxe kit?
- What stage does the engine go in
- When do I need donor parts
Ive done a search giving varied opinions and just need a basic step by step guide.
Cheers

Pick up a copy of Ron Champions book. Although the info is more for xflow install, the process is very similar... A great resource...

- Is it best to go for the deluxe kit? YES as you will need the extra bits
- What stage does the engine go in, not sure there is a right and wrong time to be honest
- When do I need donor parts, as soon as you get the kit home

The basic build sequence no matter where you start will be the wrong order you will need to take off almost everything you have put on at least
once because it is in the way of something else
Donor parts will all need much cleaning and painting, some will need changing for something else once you have tried to fit them! Something will need
to be changed because you want to use or change something else because you see a better way of doing it or get a better part, don't worry and
just get on with it!

How I did it.
1. Order the kit, usually a 6 week lead time.
2. Buy Engine (assuming BEC)
3. Confirm which engine you are using.
4. Buy Donor
5. Strip Donor
6. Clean / Refurb Donor Parts
7. Pick Kit Up
8. Put Floor On
9. Put Diff, Suspension, Steering Rack in.
10. Get mates to push you up and down the street, mad grin on your face going brum brum.
11. Do brakes
12. Put engine in, cooling system, fuel pipes etc
13. Do wiring.
14. Start engine! Rev nuts off it with no silencer, annoy neighbours.
15. Drive up and down street with no silencer, annoy neighbours.
16. Fit body
17. SVA
As Caber said though, be prepared to fit things twice!
Hope that helps
Cheers
Mike

We've (3 of us) built two Indys' now with little removal of originally fitted parts. It's all down on our website... not that we
didn't make mistakes but as it was a three way build we talked a plan rather than just build hap-hazardly and it seemed to work pretty
succesfully.
I (we) wish you well on your build if you need anything just ask and we'll collectively point you in the right direction.

I agrea with everything said above, don't forget steering rack and front uprights are exchange items and need to be sourced first ( if you give
them a steel rack don't expect an alloy one in exchange) if you intend to fit a quick rack I would suggest you get it at the start from MK,
because they have to machine the shaft I can see no reason why they would not be prepared to shorten a quick rack shaft (provided you buy it from
them)
after all they are only machining one shaft
It becomes obsessive so make sure you get as many bits together at the start
