Does anyone know the weight of MK's full roll cage? after doing a few trackdays i feel i would rather have a decent cage around me just incase. I knwo they are quite reasonable at £450, compared to caged @ £1000, but they use T45 strong/lightweight steel, and im guessing mk use the cheapest stuff available?

If you want to keep it light but functional, why not go for a race roll bar rather than full cage. I got mine welded into ther chassis by MK when they built it.

It looks similar to the standard rollbar, but the sides are vertical and the stays run down to the bottom of the chassis (where the fuel tank fits).

ha ha! Ive told myself that many times now when sliding at 80mph round corners with the grass edge getting closer! But id still rather a full cage!

Hi i know i keep banging on about it but if you ever intend to use the car for MSA/FIA use then it would be wise to consult the blue book.

As i keep saying thier are people out there selling suposed MSA compliant cages. BUT they are not. the regs changed a few years ago and some do not seem to be aware of the changes. Also it is worth taking note of the way in wich some cages are mounted as some may not pass inspection if looked at properly.

P.S. Like procomp says, mine is more for asthetics than full protection, but I think it would be a bit better than just a hoop if I ever flip.

Hi it might only be for trackday use but if for the same money you can get one that is MSA/FIA why choose the lowwer spec.

The higher spec one will only increace resale value and be a darn sight lighter.

where would you go to get one then? one made by caged (all the westfield boys use) is twice the price of mk's. It does look a darn sight better bit of kit tho, and I bet safer and lighter.

Just cause you only want to do track days shouldn't mean you don't want the best protection around you. I've no idea what the reg changes are but i'm pretty sure they'll have been for a good reason. A reason thats just as valid at 80mph on a track day as 80mph on a race track.

(Matt - any hints what the changes where / where someone could get a copy of the blue book to read online?)
