What brakes
paulmw - 30/4/07 at 12:36 PM

I need to buy discs and pads all round. What do I get and where do I buy.

I am told there are 2 sizes (253mm and 240mm) and to go for solid discs

It would prob help if you said what calipers you had I think - are you sticking with Sierra calipers etc mate?

And as you already put above, yes you should only need solid discs...

Yes, standard sierra calipers (I think)

Also, is it worth waiting and buying this at this weekends show?

Well, as it is pretty soon now anyway it's worth waiting just for that reason alone, I guess...
Although I have never been to Stoneleigh so I have no idea whether things like this are available - maybe someone with past knowledge of the event could comment?

Obviously it is at this stage that I say, you could always upgrade your brakes to Wilwoods?!?

If you're using Sierra uprights and calipers, then you'll need to buy the discs that fit. i.e. if they were 253mm vented discs, you'll have to fit 253mm vented discs. Bigger dia won't fit and smaller dia won't make full contact with the pads.

Some peope using M16 calipers designed for solid discs choose to split the caliper body and widen it to accept vented discs using purpose made spacers - not an option on solid cast iron calipers like those on Sierras.
