To clarify is it the splined pinion shaft you need the measurement of or the lower steering column shaft?

Sorry should have explained that better.

I already have the standard ratio shortened Sierra rack in my Indy, 4 turn L2L.

I've picked up rather cheaply I might add (£34 + p&p) a 2.8 L2L Quaife rack internal for the Sierra rack which in its current form is too long to fit the shortened case.

How much do I chop off the rack? I've got a feeling it's 9", can anyone confirm?

MK shorten the case by 252mm.

I could remove the existing rack and measure up but I cant do that until Saturday earliest. If I know how much to take off the rack this afternoon I can get it bench sawn at a local engineering firm tonight, just me being impatient rather than waiting until Monday

The one I've done is about 19 inch in length ............

And I also believe its a standard M10 thread on the end .......

Hope this helps
