Fitting windscreen to MK indy
kitcar007kev - 19/4/07 at 08:30 PM

after advice,

future farthering law (he will be in trouble) has been looking at a MK indy? around 4-5 years old- only thing putting him off is the lack of windscreen - theres the question. How easy is it to fit a windscreen to an Mk and would i be correct in assuming that it must have had one in the past to get through Sva

Cheers Kev

quite easy to fi I guess, wipers will be a little more work but nothing too hard.
NO a lot of people deliberatly present the car for SVA without screen because it takes away a number of fail points.
Mangogroveworkshop on here sells screen kits,do a search

You don't need one for the SVA - in fact you're better witout one, less to test!

Someone on here (who's name escapes me) sell screens and frames , it's not a big job.

Cheers

Chris
EDIT: I've never been a quick typer!!

cheers chaps (doh i have heard about leaving the screen off for sva) is there anythig to look out for in particular with Mks?

I would'nt have though so any more than ANY other 7 type. Theres a huge potential to build any car very badly, or very well and only on close inspection are you going to ascertain where this particular one sits.............

fitting my screen was fairly easy, It just took a couple of us to get it linded up and possitioned correctly ready to drill, the wipers again were pretty straight forward, just a case of cutting down the Bundy tube to the right length.
All in all you could have the job done in a weekend if you wanted to.

Great if you live in the drought ridden south.......not so nice if you live in the much cooler north so a screen makes the car more usable. Besides where on this island can you drive a seven at top speed....
Even up here where we have open roads they are not
the sort of road you can open up for long stretches.
We had the indy out in April the first year and nearly froze to death.
