Hi!
I'm new on this forum and i'm from Hungary. Sorry for the bad English! I built an Mk indy with an R1 engine(1999 or 2000 i dont no, 5JJ1
carbed modell) and my question is: need i a cat converter for the SVA or not? If your answer is yes, then second question is: in the original R1
exhaust can end ist cat converter?
Thanks your answer and once more sorry for my bad english!
This is the best forum on the Net!!
Regards Peter!
Do you have sva in Hungary?
If you do, the engine is newer that 1995 so the answer is yes.
You will also have to have the carbs re-jetted and possibly some sort of airbleed system to weaken the mixture (just for sva)

the CAT in the later r1 cans is not powerful enough on its won to bring emissions down to the car test
Ok! Thanks your answers. I see! I need a cat but the original can end is not enough, but then what is the solution? (I thinking an english SVA)
Thanks!
you need a cat elsewhere like where the link pipe is ASWELL
