I have a '89 3.62 non lsd diff form a ford sierra, does anabody know which oil and which amount I have to put in it...

Haynes Manual says Hypoid gear oil, SAE 90EP
Fill via the big allen key plug in the back, using a small diameter hose and a funnel.
Level is up to that hole. (Haynes says from dry between 0.8 and 0.9 litres).

My Haynes manual says "Using a bit of bent wire as a dipstick, check that the oil is no more than 10mm (0.4in) below the plug hole".
I took that to mean that there is a minimum level, i.e. 10mm below hole, but that Haynes do not specificially state what the maximum is, but as it
would be very difficult to get the oil to stay in above the point where you are filling it from, that level with that would do!
If I have overfilled my diff and bust it, I'll buy another from the local ford breakers.

On the "A race car is born" they say fill it up until oil starts dribbling out of the fill hole.
Pretty much the same rules as when filling crank cases of MZ 2 stroke bikes
I used Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear oil--1 US quart

my diff didnt come with the little rubber breathe hose its supposed to come with... it just has that hole. so when i fill it, do i have to plug the hole in anyway? what with?

i brought an complete back axle in "La Torre" for 120euro.. it was from a 2.0i 4x4
sow LSD 3,92unit..
it was cheaper then buying everything apart... as you can see in my pic archive its called donorparts.. you see the original "la torre"

brakes wheren´t the same sow dumped and swapped for Wilwood ones..
propshaft was first modded (70buy+70mod) and finnaly trownaway for a new baileymorris unit with TRT..

i just happened to buy the complete rear axle in that place! (La Torre)
it seems they emptied the oil, (just a bit left) and forgot to put the thingy back on?
the diff is in great shape though... just dont know what to do with this covering the hole thing..
If you mean the breather hole in the top, just jubilee clip a bit of pipe to it. It's not as if you intend spending much time upside down is it?! If you do, leaking gear oil is the least of your worries.
yeah, but my worries were focused more on oil coming out of that hole during cornering, or simply driving it as the diff is filled 10mm close to the
hole... so i should obviously have something there shouldnt I?
just for simplicity... can i just plug the hole or does the diff have to have a vent opening?
I've never has oil spill out of my breather. Yes, you need to have it.

the oil makes fumes and they need to be
extracted by that hole..
its not true that the level is 10mm below that hole! that hole is on the upside!
the diff should be as full as it can get by filling it with the torx bolt on the back!!
also that hole is baffled sow there won't come much oil out.
In fact from my diff there did come some oil out of it altough not the litle wich i put in later...

You mean the hole to fill te diff....you can order a new plug with your ford dealer.
I have too, because the plug would' t come lose, so my dad had to weld another bold to it...hope it comes lose know.
I thought it would be 15 min work to fill the diff, now i'm 2 days later and hove to order a new plug and seal the backplate from the diff
again..
Finally got the bolt too fill the diff off, had to weld another bold on it just to get the damm thing off, I thought 15 min work to fill the diff, it
took me 2 days
