Well done, it must be a great feeling.
A quick question though. I've got my retest in two weeks with a carbed R1. It failed on emissions last time and I need to know where you set
your idle mixture screws to get it through (assuming yours is carbed also), mine are currently two and half turns out. Also did you disconnect your
Air Induction System (if it had one) to richen it for the lambda test.
Well done again, and I'd much appreciate any info on the above.
Cheers, Kurt
first of all yoou'll need a cat,
take the air filter off,
start at two turns out on all four carbs, then turn each screw 3/4 turn in,
then adjust it to get the C0 down to zero! and the rest should match!
i've got a C0 meter if you want it for £20 if you can't get to a patient mot place!,kev
Thanks Kev, but I still have more questions.
Why take the airbox off? I've turned mine round so it fits under the bonnet, and from what I can tell most say the engine runs better with
rather than without it.
Also, does screwing the mixture screws in richen or weaken the emissions in terms of the lambda reading, because mine was too lean and I'm hoping
to fiddle it at the test by adjusting the screws if it fails again, so knowing which way does what would be useful.
Cheers, Kurt.
i took the airbox/filter off to get more air into the carbs( made about 0.5 difference to the CO reading).
screwing the jets in makes it leaner so in your case obviously you'll need to screw them out a touch,do each one the same amount! factory setting
for an r1 should be 2 and 1/2 turns out.don't screw them in too tight as you'll damage the jet-seat. hope this helps, kev
Cheers Kev, hopefully I'll posting a pass on here next Friday 1st Sept.
Kurt.
