Hi, new to the forum and car building so please be patient if my terminology is wrong at times
Just at the point of fitting the front hubs to the lower wishbones which leads me to two questions.
1) What is the easiest technique for getting the mushroom inserts into the top of the hub as it seems an extremely tight fit and I don't want to damage the insert, once fitted should it be able to be rotated quiet eaily?
2) Secondly When looking from above should the top and bottom balljoints line up? as my upper ball joint is noticeably further back than the lower. I've fitted the upper wishbone the correct way round, longer length to the front so I'm a bit confused how it will all fit together seeing the offset hole in the insert should be towards the front.
I'd appreciate any insight on these questions.

You may have to spread the top of the hub slightly at the point where the crossbolt goes through with a wedge, like a screwdriver.to get the mushroom insert in, make sure the hole is clean and smooth. may be a bit of lubrication aswell.
It is normal for the top and bottom ball joints to be misaligned, in fact it is needed,

Make sure the offset hole at the top of the mushroom is pointing towards the front of the car

if the wedge doesnt work, stick the insert in the freezer overnight and try again.

the upper balljoint is behind the lower one to create whats called 'castor angle', which leads to selfcentering. Makes the car a lot more stable at speed.

You also need to ensure that the top frount wisbone has the long leg foward.. Our inserts are tight as others have said ensure that the hole is clean and free of paint/rust (us a scraper i.e. and old butter kinfe, the ones with an ivirory handle and shefied steal blade), and a little oil/waxoil will aid fitting..

Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply and answer my questions, once I manage to get back into the garage I'll let you know how I get on.

finally managed to get some time in the garage this afternoon, the inserts were in the freezer for 2 days and with only a small amount of leverage with a screwdriver in the gap for the pinch bolt the inserts slid home extremely easily, again many thanks for taking the time to help me out
