Does any body own a gt1, im interested in a mid engined car, I have viewed the gtr and Im not impressed by its looks and the fact that the peddle box is over to the left, I have'nt seen the mk1 in the flesh but it seems to look a lot better, any comments on the gt1 inc handling compared to indy would be greatfully recieved.

Hi, 1st off I'm not sure you will get hold of as GT1 unless you have tracked down one for sale somewhere, there weren't that many built, it may just stretch into double figures.
Handling wise it does need a little work on the rear too make it stick, the original pick ups can be improved upon, the GTr is better in standard form because of this, that said it does handle pretty well as it is, I have only been on track once the same time as an Indy (a race prep's one) and it definitely out cornered it and the slippier bodywork helped out at higher speeds giving better top end speeds. One thing too be careful of with any mid engined car though is when they let go they let go, with all the weight in the middle they can spin like a top, imagine an ice skater spinning, when they pull there arms and legs in they spin faster,
Sorry cant be much more help than that, the GTr I believe is now manufactured by I think Spiresports cars in Chesterfield, I know the GT1 was sold too a guy in the Scarborough/Hull area (not Dominator) but not heard of any been made too date.

cheers J.

Not mid-engined, but have you looked at the AGM WLR? It's an Indy based chasis clothed in a rather tasty (IMO) full body in a Le Mans style.

The head lights drop out ..........

only joking, drove one at Le-mans and the headlights did fall out though, wasn't my fault honest........

Nice cosworth engined jobbie, drove very well.

isnt the AGM the car that idiot on "KitCar Troubles" decided he couldnt use, mainly cos he couldnt tell his arse from his elbow?

Mr G - 30/3/06 at 10:12 PM

Yeah the AGM was what he started off with before he broke it off and swapped over to the Dominator which he 'broke off' literally.

I too prefer the looks of the GT1 over the GTR. I spoke with Paul Spire at the Exeter show and although his GTR is well sorted he felt improvements had been made in the kit.

The engine on the GTR was at 90 degree to the GT1 and on the left "to aid weight distribution"

Koen on here put me in touch with the Dutch MK importer who had a GT1 for sale, but it was very pricey
