Im wanting to order some stiffer rear springs but wondered ifanyone knew what spec. the ones supplied by mk for a BEC are, ie length, diameter &
rate. They came on protech dampers.
Also wheres a good/cheep place to buy springs.
thanks

thanks,
just need to find somewhere that sells springs now.
Do you need a spring compressor to get them on the dampers?
Do you get a lot of roll on your indy while cornering?
I think i may be hitting the bump stops while accelerating on the drag strip. Not sure if this is possible but i'll have to test with some tape
on the damper at the next meeting.
I was thinking I may have to change the springs trackside thats why I wondered how easy it was.
The best ive done so far is 12.2 with 1.8s 60ft times but I cant go any faster till I sort out the lerching sideways problem. Its really odd, like
im steering really sharply to the left under hard 1st and 2nd gear accel on slicks. Im not sure whether its hitting the rear bump stops, the diff is
supplying power unevenly (spool on the way!), something odd at the front such as droop steer. When thats sorted I expect to be able to do mid
11's.

I have a feeling the rears are 175lb springs.
Have a look at the last 4 pics in my archive to see how much my car squats. And they are without nitrous or slicks.
I have 75hp jets fitted but it starts at about 25hp then ramps up to 75hp over about 2 secs. Havnt been able to keep it straight so I expect
11's on the same power.
What 1/4 and 60ft times are you running?
Maybe I should do the corner weights. Would be nice if that sorted the problem.
cheers

Carnut, I take it you were getting the low 12's with slicks on? What times were you getting without the slicks?
Like Chris says, it might be worth getting the corner weights set up.
Phil
Carnut you have u2u
I'll get the corner weights set up asap.
I run 2.0s 60ft with crappy toyo proxies on.
Chris,
What engine and state of tune are you running?
Theres no wonder your 2nd 1/8 is so fast. Im quite quick in the first 1/8 due to the lightness but lose out because of the lack of torque at the top
end and the 5 gear changes.
Ive been thinking about going turbo so ive always got 340hp ish on tap and then using nitrous to help it spool up and add another 100hp for the drag
strip. Problem is i'd still want more!
My aim is to make the indy do a run below 11s at some point but that wont appen this year as I cant afford the rods and pistons.
