Your Mk looks awesome! Fair play to you
What's the catastrophic converter off Ox and is it permanent or easily removable?
i got the cat of the net last year and used it inside the old r1 exhaust ,this time its been welded on the out side ,,lol i know its ugly but its doesnt have any sharp edges and i hope its quite anough to get through the sva ,,if and when it passes the silencer i got off 907 will be going on woohoo
Are those slicks on it there?
Adam
Good luck M8. Just in time for summer, we must sort out more meets this time before you sell it because its not fast enough
Gordon

If mine looks as good in yellow and black (no CF of SAMCO ) i`ll be well chuffed.

Bob, i may have something to celibrate!! I'll keep you in suspence a while longer
Good Luck Ox, hope it was what youwanted, at least it didn't rain!
well OX????
pants,
failed on a few things, omissions, noise level, surface rust on the harness bolts, front indicators not bright anough, speedo reading 3 mph to slow and
rear reflectors need to be a lens not just a sticker o and my new pads hadnt bedded in anough on the front.
i didnt mind the fail but i was pissed off at not passing the cat test ,i'd taken the car twice to a friends garage and both times it passed the
test but today it didnt want to play ball. retest next tuesday so fingers crossed.
sorry i havnt replied earlier but iv just got in from doing some of the jobs,so now im going to bed to sulk
cheers guys
moggy
Unlucky, the emissions sounds a *isser but otherwise easy fixes, rusty nuts `n all!
I guess at least you know what needs fixing, I'm sure you'll be fine next week.
Rich.
Good luck mate took me 3 attempts to get a busa through the emissions. Done the same thing and tested at a mates garage but as soon as it got near the sva centre it failed. On the 3rd attempt the tester just turned a blin eye when i adjusted the mixture between test
bad luck Ox not too far away from a MAC certificate.I'm sure it will be sorted for next week,i'll have a beer anyway
Hard luck mate, it happens to the best of us! Most people pass 2nd time so just do the jobs as well as you can and i'm sure everything will be
ok.
My speedo was out on the test so we let some air out....worked a treat!
Second time lucky
Good luck for tomorrow OX, let us know how you go on.
Gordon
things arnt looking to good at the moment ,i cant get the emissons right and im running out of ideas(well i can get them all lower anough but not for
the full 40 seconds,it failed last time becouse it went high in the last 5 seconds),im having one last try tomorrow morning before i go,at least all
the other failure bits have been put right
cheers any way m8
Ox,is it worth trying to run it richer?
I'm sure i've heard of others doing this to cure the emisions/lambda probs.
Good look mate.
FAILED AGAIN but it passed the emissions woohoo
it failed on being 1db to loud and the god damn rear brakes are better than the front,,wish id never put the 4 pots on now.
any body know where i can get some sound proofing from to go inside the engine bay as thats where most the noise seems to be coming from.
retest 9th june ,only 2 things to put right this time ,im more relieved that its passed the emissiones than i am pi55ed off about the failure ,next
time 3rd time lucky
Sorry to here about your fail, my SVA date is on 7th.
But now yours has passed emissions will they check that again next time. Just out if curiosity.
nope,i asked him just to make sure,he said as long as everything is intact with the exhaust system as it is now then he wont need to do one
good luck with your sva test dude .if mine fails next time im gonna keep it as a track car
[Edited on 31/5/05 by OX]
Good luck moggy im sure it will pass 3rd time round .
Ye good luck mate.
Don't give up now.
you can borrow my old bonet dude if you want, to expirement with the sound proofing??
Nice one OX.
You should be OK now.
Can you borrow a yellow box to alter the revcounter reading for the test, or some wire wool up the exhaust might do the trick.
See you soon M8
Gordon
Ox
If it is induction noise, are you using the original airbox or a foam filter?
If it is a foam filter, perhaps it might be worth trying a K&N Air Box from Demon Tweeks?
Demon Tweeks Air Box
Although I have no personal experience of them I did see them mentioned on Seventorque:-
Seven Torque Bec List
Unfortunatley I cannot use the original airbox, even upside down, so am now looking around for alternatives.
Hope you get sorted.
Mike
Guinness good idea but like you i am also stuck for room my filter is squashed against the bonnet vent allready ,its induction noise and a high
pitched vibration noise from all over the car it seems.
the induction noise is deafening
keep at it m8.. you'll crack it eventually
OX,
Can you nail a couple of bits of ally on the underside of the chassis to cover over as much of the the bottom of the engine bay as possible and then
velcro some carpet or the like on the under side of the bonnet so that ist removable after the test?
woohoo its passed as last .
whilst it was up on the ramps the sva guy noticed massive gouges in the sump and it looks like the sumps been scraping the floor under heavy
braking.sump guard needed
Nice one mate, get out there and tear up some tarmac before it costs £1.30/mile.
Nice one OX, well done mate. What was your noise level like with 907's new exhaust?
cheers
i couldnt use 907's exhaust becouse there wasnt room to fit the cat infront of it.its for track days only and it got me through the noise limit
yesterday at oulton(cheers paul)the smaller exhaust i got off paul is for road use hehe
i used some sound proofing mat in the engine bay and got the noise down to 101 which was my main worry
Nice one M8. Get out there and give it some.
See you soon
Gordon
Whooo hooo! Well done OX. Get some miles down while the sun shines!!
Mike
Yee-Ha!
Here comes the summer - about time you stopped messing about with that SVA guy!
