Side repeaters
MEERKAT - 7/8/15 at 04:12 PM

Hi all knowing wise ones, can anyone tell me if side mirrors with in built side repeaters are fine for IVA test or would I need additional one on the Wings?
Thanks in advance.

I think you'll find that built in ones are no good as you get zero re-ward visibility of the indicator. I also believe that only 1 set of side repeaters are allowed. Best place to put them is on the outside edge of rear arch. There maybe a pic in my archive from when I passed iva last year and chucked a load of pics on here for approval.

Thanks I thought as much but thought I'd ask as they do make a neater job.

Rear arch is favourite, easy to wire from the rear lights as well.
Mine passed IVA with these

Mine past IVA with repeaters in the mirrors only, they are off a bike. GSXR1000

Might have been luck with the test station but it passed

Thanks for that nice Raptor by the way.

I am sure there is an IVA rule that says side repeaters must be within 2600 mm of the front. You would need a very short wheelbase to pass on rear arches unless you had a very obliging examiner!

Don't know about other makes, but my MK passed ok, the examiner measured from the front of the nose cone.

They will pass with repeaters in the mirrors but ONLY if they meet the angles of visibility test.

If you look at the ones on tin-tops you'll see they wrap around so that they can be seen from the rear. Most (all I've seen) of the aftermarket can't be seen from the rear. The ones on hpk57's car look like they shouldn't pass.

My car would have failed with repeaters in the rear arches. ( Distance rule )
To be honest, with the rear light clusters on the rear arches anyway it seems silly having repeaters next to them.
Just my opinion you understand.

For IVA I fitted trailer markers into mirrors as this was what Dennis at Norwich IVA suggested. ( 1st pic )
( Must get round to getting these onto eBay. )

Post IVA is another matter. Back to my Mitzy repeaters and the bullet's that were in my original plan. ( 2nd pic )
