Hi All,
I've done some searching, but can't find an exact answer to my problem. So I'm asking for some help/advice please?
Just finished bolting my JK Composite seat to my MK Indy R.
But, the seat belt anchor points are way to low.
Description
I can't lower the seat anymore...So, my thoughts so far.
1. Cut the seat to make the holes bigger? not keen on this idea as my shoulders sat in the seat are by the top part of the pads.
Description
2. Is it possible to extend the mounting points? not a great idea either as it might work loose. And would need a least 4".
Description
3. Take out the mounting points and replace weld/bolt with box section? ideas?
4. Am I being a twonk and this happens all the time?
5. Replace with another seat. The passenger is a kit car direct one, which needs putting on box section as the bottom isn't flat like the JK, but
it still will be ok.
6. Replace belts from anchor type plates to hooks and put eye bolts in the MK anchor points? (still to low?).
7. Anything else I'm missing?
Thanks any ideas greatly received.
For that position, you really want the mounting bosses at 90° from where they are now, so the belt end goes straight up. Then you want a round tube between the uprights of your rollover bar, so that the belts turn 90° over it and straight into the seat harness holes.
Hi, my fury mounting points on the roll bar were also too low, so I made an
extension using a bit of 8mm angle iron to 'relocate' the mounting points.
Slightly different as my were on the roll bar, but a similar technique may work for you.

You can see the brackets in these pictures.
Close up is during construction and second is finished in the car.
Just passed IVA so the inspector was happy.
I would not want something that tall to carry my body weight in a crash, it's got to be a new tube across the cage at the right height or do what
I did and weld brackets to the cage stays.
Car looks lovely Len.
Thanks for the responses guys.
The easiest way to get round my problem is to ditch the JK seat and replace with a Kit Car Direct seat which is what I have on the passenger side. New
seat ordered JK for sale soon.
Shame as I love the JK seat, but it has the optional base mount which pushes it too high on the indy.
Thanks again
