Does anyone have picture of the type9 gearbox mount in the Indy chassis? I thought I could just bolt the original Ford part to the two strips, welded in the tunnel, but I'm afraid the bolts will be too close to the edge of the strips.
as far as i remember you drill out the 2 rivets that hold the mounting to its frame, just use the center part
Yep, that's what I did, but I measured its position and found out that both bolt would be at the edge of the two chassis plates. I hope my measuring was wrong...
strange, mine fits ok,have you got the engine too far forward?
The big one is the ford cntre piece and the little one is the suposedly stiffer westfield version.
I just drill mine out and it sits in the tabs on the bottom tunnel rails no probs.

There is no need for rubber mounts then?
Chris
The rubber is in the middle of the mount.
I've just received the W-------d mount and it's too narrow to pick up the 2 mounting plates on the Indy chassis. If I bolt a plate to the
existing mounting plates and then bolt the gearbox mounting to that will it lift the gearbox too high.

David
This is why i put the pics up of the two mounts side by side,i too went for the westfied one only to find it means re welding the chassis tabs.
I'm not sure the westfield mount is any stiffer,i've seen a few type 9 boxes hard mounted at the lever extension too top rail.
