Bit of progress today
rb968 - 20/2/10 at 09:26 PM

So today I got the Indy down on its new wheels and tyres (went for Yoko Paradas in the end) and with a mocked up gear linkage we got it moving under its own steam.

New clutch master cylinder seems to have done the trick although I kept stalling it. It was either that or spinning the rear tyres and as you can see from the videos there wasn't a lot of room on the drive.

While it was out we tested the electric reverse with the new beefier battery. Seems ok and gives anyone wondering how effective it is and the speed it moves the car.

Worth it for the comedy value of my Dad trying to record it with my phone!

Anyway another milestone now just need to tidy wiring etc before I look to order bodywork.

Looking good, the electric reverse is faster than I expected! Any photos of your set up?

Edited to add: oops, I should have checked your photo archive first! :-)

You "you didn't press the button that says stop then?"

Dad "No I didn't"

= Quality!

Sounds nice going forwards. Sounds like a milk float in reverse though. Hey as it's sort of a hybrid I wonder if that would get you off the London congestion charge.

Haha yeah I guess......but you gotta do what the nice man from VOSA wants ;-)

Better than getting out and pushing!

What rad you using and how did you mount it m8

Great work Rich! You must be looking to be finished for IVA this spring?

Good job you did the test run yesterday, you'd have needed a snow plough this morning!

How come the dad didnt stall it, lol

Its a Polo radiator which has 4 plastic bosses on it. 2 brackets from the top chassis rail with self tappers into the bosses. The bottom has 2 lugs sticking out verticaly which I made 2 bracket and the lugs sit in those. Not sure if its strong enough yet. Might need an extra brace or two.

Haha well he'd tell you it was his superior feel which comes from being a mechanic all his life. I'd say because I was wearing my big workboots ! Oh and the throttle cable is a bit sticky.

Cheers John, nearly there now. Was hoping to do a bit today but the snow has put paid to that. Hoping to have run over to MK sometime soon and order the bodywork. Anyone know what sort of lead time there is on panels?

No probs. Think the rad was a 83-90 Polo like this one.

Certainly same layout of outlets and fan switch as that one. NTDWM btw. Got mine from ebay but not from that seller. Can't find who at the mo sorry. You can see the lugs at the bottom but there are also 4 bosses for screws which may be stronger.
