weight in a bec - power

How much difference does weight make in a bec?

I have the zx9r and i had the zx12 titanium can on which is pretty light, and i have just baught the modified r1 which was for sale on here and it quite weighty in comparrision, its a couple of kg heavier at least.

Would this make a much noticable difference in power when driving with the extra weight?

Also i have a large car battery and the floor is lined with rubber and i have the mk embossed plastic panels for the interior.

Is this lot going to make a noticable difference in power?

using the letstorquebhp calculator (so all things considered the same apart from weight) I calculate every kilo off a 450kg car would decrease 0-60 time between 0.005s and 0.01s

Roughly...every 2kg lost is the same as 1bhp gained.
Will it make a difference?...Yes.
Will you notice that difference?...No

OK THANKS FOR THE ADVICE GUYS, SO I HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT AND I DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE ANY PURCHASES ON LIGHTWEIGHT RACING BATTERYS AND STRIPPING THE INTERIOR WHICH IS GREAT NEWS

When i took my mate out (15 stone) i noticed it, when i left my jack handle down the side of the passenger seat, didn't notice a thing, full tank of fuel compaired to more or less empty, i only noticed the rear handling felt slightly better.

I'd worry about shouting!

Remember the GB cycling team at the Olympics and thier results? All that was because of what they called "An accumulation of marginal gains". In other words, one little bit won't make a difference, but lots of different little bits added up will.

Oh you got it did you?
How do you like the sound?

If your above 10 stone , then you need to look closer to home before you start removing bits of car! l

thyat said, something "very" heavy like the battery will of coure make a bit of difference.
But as alrady said.
I cant tell the difference with a full or empty tank of fuel.
But I can if I'v got a passenger!

Cheers

As said above ^^^^

I can markedly tell the difference with a passenger, but not much difference when i loaded the car to go to shows etc....

Replacing the car battery with a bike battery would be quite a weight saving and cheap too. You don't need a racing battery, just go with the same battery as the donor bike had.

Other than that, the cheapest weigh of increasing the power/weight ratio is to lay off the pies

haha, yeah i baught the modified r1 can that was suggested, its a nice little thing just i was concerned due to the extra weight.

I havent actually put it on the car yet, i am awaiting a new link pipe off jetex exhausts which should arrive tommorow then i need to make a new bracket to attach it to, i think ime gunna get the pipe ceramic coated in black aswell, its only £20.

How do these r1 cans sounds?

I like them they don't seem to hit the power and give a nice burble on the blade
Going to get my replacement this week
Hoping it will keep me below 100dB for Mallory
