Lets see now if I can explain my problem.
When I have mounted the diff and the rear w/b with the shocks theres is a problem with the driveshafts.
I´ve put the drum back plates on the driveshaft and slide in to the diff. If I put no pressure on the driveshaft I get a 20mm space between the drum
back plate and the 4 mounting holes on the shaft.
This bothers me, is this right?
The drive shafts are different lengths, have you have mixed them up.?

No...it´s not that simple....unfortunatly....
Have you got the same problem both sides ?
Have you tried putting the shaft into the diff in a different position/rotation.?
If youve still got problems Ill go and get some dimensions for you to check.

I remember having the same problem when I assembled mine, but decided that was how it was supposed to be, and its just that there is a certain amount
of preload in the joints. It makes sense if you think about it, because there has to be capacity for the shaft length to increase when the wheel moves
up or down.

I dont remember mine causing a problem except one side wouldnt go in properly untill I took it out and rotated it 90deg and it went in fine.

This is only the right side of car. I tried this driveshaft on left side, but the gap is bigger there.
I'm not familiar with the Tripode type - but the lobro type have lots of movement to allow for difference in the distance between diff and hub in
normal operation. I can't see how the tripode type should be any different... does the hub secure to the upright ok? If so the gap is play and
this will not occur when driving surely.
All IMHO of course...
the joints are spring loaded to take up play,give them a good push.btw i would turn your shocks round,makes it easier to adjust with the knob on the
inside
Now Im thinking it might be me with the problem, I dont remember having to compress the shaft in. I might undo one side and see what happens.

You´re supposed to push it in hard.
Don't worry- I had same problem with mine at first- though I'd cocked something right up!
