Can I move the "stay" in the MK chassis just below where the manifold exits?
eznfrank - 14/2/09 at 10:37 AM

I received my very shiny manifold for the ZX12 from S&S Headers this morning. It fits and exits in the right place and everything but it clashes with the "stay that runs across the area where the manifold exits the engine bay. Ideally it needs cutting out and moving.

Will this be safe to do? Does it have to run at an angle??

Put two in at parrallels to each other if you want to make sure of good triangulation, but can't get a single one in because of the manifold.

e.g.

It needs to be at an angle ideally but can be moved. Id go for what steve above says.

We had the same dilema we have put in a v shape instead, exhaust in the middle. Tops are to the same point the engine cradle bolts to and the bottom is where the engine mount for the pinto used to be.

Don't do it as Steve says (no pun intended) as you'll mess up the triangulation. Do as MacSpeedy says, and remove the whole tube and replace it by a V (or inverted V, whichever suits you best).

Hi if you mean this one cut it like in the photo then slide a good fitting pipe over it then bend it down to about were the bone bracket is slide the pipe to hit the chassis and weld around both ends
I have done 3 bike conversions like this know and all been ok
