well done but after the test please remove all that rubber...
Looking good.
Are your top harness mountings higher than the bottom edge of the holes in the seats? They'll need to be for SVA or the seat has to be
structural.
adrian
i looked at the hieght, i have all ready lowered my seats, and i have checked teh mesurment, i am about 20mm under the alloance.
thanks
stuart
What is your 2nd method of securing the mushroom insert, my sva last week he wanted me explain mine as I've used a couple of cap head bolts that
go into the mushroom but not through it, luckily I had some pictures in my gallery that backed up what I had said.
Cheers
Rich

quote:hijack alert! My harness mounts are slightly lower than the bottom edge of the seat holes but my shoulders are higher than the hole bottoms meaning that the harness doesn't touch the seat when in use. Is this acceptable?

No. How tall you are isn't relevent! Anybody could drive it as far as they know in future. Not sure this is actually in the manual specifically,
more how they interpret it.

hi, from the back picture, since that has been taken i have lowerd the seats by 50mm.
stuart
Some more info on the mushroom inserts please. Why do they have to be secured twice and what is the most popular way of doing it?
Sorry for the hi-jack but it is relevant to you too.
Good work Stuart looks like a very nice job and as above looks good in black

quote:Ok, but if I raise the mountings the straps foul the top of the slots. They would pass the test according to the interpretation but if I wore them like that they would be held down by the fibreglass seat. In the event of an accident the fibreglass would tear immediately allowing the shoulder straps to extend and me to move forward until I was suddenly stopped at the extent of the straps. My, thats safe! I'm glad these people aren't scrutineers too!

True. I suspect yours might get "adjusted" once its through SVA. At least they don't specify adjustable top mounts!
adrian
yeah and I can always drop the front ride height and raise the rear if he is going to use a level
And sorry for the hijack. Cracking looking car Stuart! Well done!

hi all, thanks for the comments, about the harness, what about if i took them out and put them back going around the seat so they do not touch the
seat?
thanks
stuart
This how I did mine, I have heard its getting a more popular fail point, if you think that the sierra strut has got a tab that goes between the bold
as well as the clamp this means that it can't come out unless the bolt falls out totally, so I guess they are just trying to replicate what the
manufacturer has tried to do by having two fixing methods. Hope this pictures help.
Cheers Rich
So have you just tapped your upright and recessed your mushroom cup?
Yep, couldn't be arsed with messing about with nuts on the back of the mushroom, difficult with sausage fingers!
So...
Essencially its acting as a grub screw, but the man in the white coat wanted to see it enter into the mushroom.
Cheers
Rich
