Having installed the speedo cable in our indy last night I notice that it needs a sharp 90deg bend as it comes out of the side of the gearbox due to
the drivers side footwell wall/box section.
Does the cable function ok with such a bend in it? This is obviously something I wont be able to sample until we're ready to test drive.
There doesnt seem an easy way of aleviating such a bend without having the cable coming in through the footwell (wouldnt look nice) or modifying the
footwell panel.
Its a squeeze, but mine worked fine like that.
The hardest bit is getting the circlip in that holds the cable in the gearbox.

Hi mine works fine like that 4 1/2 years
the only thing i have done is made a dished cover in line with the drive coming out the gear box
you don't need to buy a 90% drive if you do this

As above but my approach is (not driven yet!):
You need a new cable for the 90 drive, thus you might as well use the old cable till it snaps..
To avoid it snapping, attempt to make the bend radius as large as possible..
Some people have run the cable under a carpet/rubber matt so you can avoid the bend (the cable then gently bends back up to the scuttle)..

Hi Jacko,
any photos?

Hi its a bit hard to see you can just see the bulge on the side off the tunnel wall

Once it is in the bend isn't that bad. Personally I wouldn't bother with the 90 degree unit.
Will you be sticking with a cable driven speedo? I ditched mine in favour of an electronic so no need for a cable.

i am using a stock serria cable in a mk, it is tight but it works.
i think the circlip is 28mm if i rember right. i think burton sell them single.
