do I build the front or the back first?

Hi Guys,

I have built the chassis (McSorley +4) to the point where the top rails are in place.

As I'm using my BMW rear end, it has to be welded in to the chassis and will become a structural member. However I am not sure about the height of it at the moment as the diff has to line up exactly with the output shaft of the gearbox (doesn't it?)



So, should I build up the back end, welding in the rear axle carrier and line up the engine/gearbox to suit, or fit the engine/box and then build the rear to suit.

I can't really go any further till I work this out as pretty much everything else has to be build around the donor parts. Rescued attachment 100_0094.JPG

as long as the flanges are parallel, then you're fine.

look at 30 tonne ridgid body lorries as an example. look at the angle of their props!

Are you welding that big heavy lump directly on the back of the chassis

It looks perfect for some nice light wishbones, just knock up some carriers and away you go.

yeah i'm going to move tube b1 forwards halfway to b2 and was planning to cut square recesses through the carrier and weld it on. It has to be shortened anyway. It will then form part of the chassis, tubes k3 and k4 will provide strength up to the suspension mounts then the rear panel will be built around it and strengthened as necessary. I'm hoping the weight me the thing will help get the 220 horses on to the tarmac.

indeed - Nokia N95 - wireless internet - super fast access using my home broadband.

Useless phone though - battery lasts about 5 mins - if your lucky.
