She's NAKED !!!

Now I have got your attention!
The Motaleira is stripped (just need a hand lifting the engine out) and I have started to fully weld the chassis.
There are a few more plates and fixings to go on, but it is not long untill all of the chassis will be finished.
I have ordered black Epoxy Mastic 121 to paint it with as soon as the welding is finished.

Quick and stunning progress as usual Martin!

Are the front shock mounts going to be beefed up at all? Maybe the photo angles, but the look like they might need some further bracing.

Hi Martin,

I'm designing the suspension for my 7 alike at the moment. I'm looking at using pushrods and rockers and it looks as though you've gone through the same process s I'm embarking on. So can you give mea leg up - how much bump and rebound does your design give? Did you aim for a 1:1 motion ratio between wheel movement and shock movement. Is the motion rate linear, falling or rising?

Thanks for any clues that you can give.

The shock mounts aren't finished yet, but there are more plates etc to go on.
As to my suspension design, I am using bilstein air ride suspension.
Instead of springs, I have airbags around the shock.
You can get this system from Arnott industries in cape canaveral florida. My set up cost £850 delivered, which included: 4 shocks, 1 X 12v compressor, 1 dual pressure gauge (one circuit front and one rear) with up/down pressure switches and all pipes, unions etc.
The shocks themselves are set to 13.5" in normal running mode (3" road clearence) with 1 1/2" either side for altering ride height.
There is an inch more for suspension travel either side of that (hope that makes sense). This gives 2 1/2" travel each direction on the shock when running at 3" from the road.
That means 5" up or down movement of the wheel posible. In reality it will be probably half that due to air pressure/shock rates etc.
My cam ratios are 2:1 in that 1" of shock movement (adjusting height) will give 2" of road height adjustment.
This means that 1 1/2" shock adjust will change my height 3" either up or down.
I will be running the car at 3" from the road, but I will be able to lower it to the floor or up to 6" for speed bumps.
I am fitting titanium blocks under the chassis should the worst happen, like a suspension air leak.
Should leave a few F1 sparks behind me!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Martin - thanks for the info. Can I ask why the 2:1 shock ratio - is that a packaging constraint or is that the optimum ratio when using the bilstein system?

Howmuch does it all weight? Also is the spring/damperrate independant per shock or per side F&R? In cornering does the airpressure partly go to the shock in the same circuit? So rear left compresses and some airpressure buildup goes to the rear right shock?

Can you also change the springrate with this system or just the height?

I'm no expert but I started with a bare chassis and added to it. Looking at your avatar it looks as if you're doing it in reverse.

Has anybody actually seen Nitrams car in the flesh? I've always thought he gets far more progess than is posible given 24hr days.
I'm convinced its all a CGI illution designed to wind the rest of us up. Now he's got bored and is showing us the pictures in reverse order!

No, it is because the shock moves only 1 1/2" up or 1 1/2" down (workable range allowing for the shock to still work) and I need 3" of travel.
The 2:1 cam gives me 3" ride height change for 1 1/2" of shock movement.
