welding round to flat

I want to weld a 40mm diameter 19mm thick bush to a flat plate. What’s the best way of filling the gaps? Fillets? Pieces of tube? Angle iron instead of plate?

Suggestions please. Rescued attachment temp.JPG

no like this as the corners don't do anything, but you only cut them off once it's welded up. Rescued attachment untitled1.JPG
