Wheels and tyres

Hello everybody,

I have a MK Indy and I have 17' on at the moment but I found that the car needs 15' or something smaller either 14' or 13'
My question is what is the right offset and will 13' fit my brakes which is standard disc from sierra donor ( I think the 1.6 or 2.0 sierra rear wheel drive, I bought it I did not make it myself )
About tyres now I think that I will go for toyo 888 or if take the 13' finally I will go for these cheap used slicks
Have in mind that this is my trackday car.

I have some 13" on mine in Dewsbury if that helps, but it aint an Indy.

As you are only sure about the 17's being to big ( which i agree) you need to have a good look at your gearing.
The rolling radius of a 185 70 13 will be about the same as a 185 60 14 and a 195 50 15, you can get more tyre sizes and types in 15" and still plenty in 13".... 14's are a little restricted but that is what i have gone for
If you are Track daying it a bit, it would be prudent to see what other people are using especially the more professional racers, they will use what works on the track.

I think the racers use 13' but I dont know the specs of the brakes.
Will 13' fit my brakes ? Can somebody confirm that?

You can't get 13's on an Indy, mind you MAC#1 managed on their sierra based car. You would be better off with Ford Focus ofset 15" wheels. I think the offset is either E36 or E38.
People do run 17's in Indy's so it's not uncommon.

I think I will go for speedlines15' and 6,5 inches wide et38 with toyos 888'

You definitely can get 13" wheels on an Indy, but it involves work to the brakes.

Athoirs has 13" Compomotive CXRs on his.

And it reallllly looks the nuts.

13's on my mac#1 et30 offset will fit over fronts ok and sierra rear calipers with a tweak to the actuation lever/spring
rear wilwoods on mine which took spacers and a little ingenuity to get to fit but do clear
front wilwoods no problems
compomotive cxr's 13x7 185/60 fronts 205/60 rears

so the trick is to get a set of cheap four piston brakes for the fronts (I think is 250 for the hi-specs etc) and get 13' on ( I do have drums in the back so no problem there!)
For the 13' the slicks are cheap for the 15 are so expensive that cover the expense for buying the brake kits
Kumho slicks are costing 500 pounds for the 15'

Hey if you guys are using lightweight three-piece wheels, be very careful where you take them to have tires mounted. I just had a local place put about six good dents in my wheels, then claim that it couldn't have been them.

If the car is 50/50 weight balanced, anything other than equal size tires will make it unbalanced at the limit. Of course, once you touch the gas or brakes mid corner, that throws the limit off, too. This is the main reason why I feel the 50/50 "rule" isn't cast in stone.

My Sierra had 13" wheels.

Standard Sierra with drum rear originally had 13" wheels, you shouldn't need to do anything to them to make them fit should you?

its the disc brakes on the rear that cause clearence problems. should be ok on drums

Mine has drums in the back
I am quite happy with the brakes as it is I was planning to fit 4 pots in the front and discs in the back in order to fit the 13' and for aesthetic reasons mainly.
But if they fit 13' on as they are I wont touch them and spend all these money on a good lsd diff
