where have people got the dimensions for the steering column support from..
no dimensions in the ron champion book that i can see...
i have made up a bracket but now think its too low.
what distance have people got from the centre of the steering wheel to.

1. chassis rail "P"
2. chassis floor

Hi First are you taking the column through the front bulkhead if so have you thought of going over the bulkhead as this points the wheel/column at a more natural angle toward yourself.

For height from the floor it usual that most wheels will be in the range off 18.5" - 20". I have no idea what rail P is so will not try and confuse you there.

Here is a picture of a column that goes over the bulkhead and uses a plate with the appropriate size hole in it to accommodate the original sierra bush and use of a sierra column. I am sure it was done simalar on the ST range of cars so some more looking there may turn up other info.

PS have just realised after re reading your post you are looking for info regarding the bracket at the wheel end of the column not the baulkhead end. is that right.

it is the wheel end i was concerned with..
i have measured to the centre of the wheel from the chassis floor and got about 20" so a bit more confident now..
yes i am running it through the bulkhead as trying to take the best bits from the haynes roadster book and adapt for the locost..
there is a photo in my archive of what i have done..

(i was a bit tiddly when i posted and even thou i had the book in front of me still got ron champion - ron chapman)
