chassis sections 'H'
richard - 24/11/03 at 09:02 PM

Just managed to tack weld the first 10 pieces of standard chassis and thinking about the two 'H' chassis sections that form the tunnel on chassis section 'C', going to hang my 2 litre pinto in position to sort out the position, how far either side of the middle of 'C' has any one put their's for 2 litre pinto or how close to the gearbox bell housing can I risk going without it touching when running and keep the area for the peddles as large as possible. Any photo's ?

If you use book dimensions, you will be ok, but you could increase the size of the passenger footwell if you feel the need Rescued attachment TunnelClearance1.jpg

..and don't put the engine bearers in until you know where they should go! (unlike me!) Rescued attachment TunnelClearance2.jpg

Thanks for the reply, the measurements from the book u refer to, do u mean page 56, if not can u measure how far in, or either side of the centre line of C the H sections go. I will be using a 5 speed do u think this will make much difference.the reply

Is it possible to sit the engine and gearbox in place?

If you can you'll see roughly where they have to go...
