Hi,
I have a couple of questions for anybody who has a book chassis with CVH.
Firstly what is the horizontal distance of both the front of the exit side of the head to the top chassis rail (J1) and from the back of the head to
J1. I know all instalations will differ slightly but I just need a rough idea as I have a manifold that i would like to use but I have a feeling that
it will foul the chassis.
Secondly, has anyone got any pictures of the engine mounts the used for the CVH. The engine we have has already been used for a lengthways
installation but it would be nice to see how people have tackled it in a locost.

I have a feeling you're talking about a 1600CVH , if so this is not applicable.......

Surrey Dave: You would be right in thinking that i'm using a 1600cvh. Does the 1600 block differ from the 1800 very much?
From your pictures i can see what you have done but on the lower pic the mount is at the gearbox end, have you not bothered with one at the other end
or is it just out of sight?
Also noticed those rather nice looking bike carbs, does it go well with those?

Mounts required for mounting a 1300/1400 1600 fwd cvh and 1800 rwd cvh are completely different. Mounting the 1800 is almost identical to mounting a
Pinto or Xflo.
The 1600 requires a bit more thought, I was half way through making mounts for mine when I was offered a Westie mount -- I am just waiting for the
guy who has it to fit his Zetec.
There is a drawing around the net somewhere showing the postion of the engine in front elevation in a Westie chassis from that you can work out some
of the dimensions you seek.
How far the engine forward in the chassis varies greatly but on most installations using a type 9 the back face of the bellhousing sits very close
to h/h1

Yes the carbs work very well ,although I'm still perfecting the jetting and the engine is a little tired, so i'll probably whip it out and
change the rings, and lighten the flywheel.
They would probably work even better on a 1600 because the cylinder head is a better design for top end power.
The bump on the off side of the type 9 bellhousing is about .50" forward of the bulkhead tube on my car....

I made a set for a 1300 CVH, but eventually fitted a crossflow.

This is the front mount, I was able to fit the alternator in the original position using the standard bracket.

The mounts sat onto Fiesta rear engine mounts, these are rectangular with a 10mm stud each side.
Thanks guys, got a good idea about mounting the lump now. Has anyone got those dimensions regarding the manifold I originally asked for too?
