Terrapin,
Just out of interest why is the top rear most mounting in a different configuration to the rest?
Thank U very much
also.....
ive ben told that really the joints shouldnt take axial (sideways) loads if its to be avoided. My car has them in the same way your has - ie not the
recommended way.
Axial loading is approx 15% of radial loading......
F1 cars, im told, have them turned thro 90 degrees.
You will note that the top rear bearing is mounted at 90deg to ensure the load is addressed correctly. I'm using 10,000lb rated 3/8" UNF
bearings. All I can say is experience is that this configuration is OK as they have been doing this since 1963 on the Terrapin. I'll post some
more examples to show how loads are tackled.
