I want to put a towing eye, or similar on the front of my 7, what have others done?

i was thinking more like the exhaust clamp u bend with the two threaded ends?

thats what we used on a mighty mini... worked fine getting it dragged from the kitty litter at brands

Confused but excited. - 16/9/12 at 10:40 AM

Don't forget to reinforce the chassis member with welded in tubes where you intend to put the bolts through.

It might be better to weld it to the chassis. Drilling the box section will weaken it.

I'd use a couple 5mm pieces of flat with a couple of hole in each for the exhaust U clamp to go through with a couple of nuts on each leg and sandwich the chassis.

Steve

Not a '7' but I have used a spare piece of tie down strap, wrapped around a tube, with a couple of bolts through the strap. I did the same when I had my Locost and it worked fine (and got used a lot!)

It's not that clear in this photo - will try and take a better one.

Regards

Wyn

Tie Strap Solution is Genius!!
Goes very well with the Lightweight Credo...
Hand stitching may remove a couple of ounces more...

I may stitch it in future! This was a quick fix to get a strap on it. Ideally, I'd have done it before the towing strut had been glued and bolted into the front crash box!

Peugeot 406 rear seatbelt with the catch removed, bolted to subframe.
Then held to body work with a loop of velcro, to keep it off ground.

We used a towing strap bolted to one of the suspension pick up points (so should be strong enough)...

See here for an example

Hi

As above with the seat belt or one of the proper made for the jobs from TRS Willians Etc etc. On a locost for racing it is usually attached to the front lower wishbone bolt and neatly tucked in the nose cone. Also for racing it has to have a 60mm opening / loop.

These straps are cool, so may go off to the breakers tomorrow
