have a question, most of the info out there is based on donors avaliable in the UK, what donors are being used for nort American builds. Particularaly the suspension components.

I'd like to use a Toyota 4AGE from a corolla GTS but the Front engined RWD corollas don't have the best pieces to use for the front suspenstions.

anyone with drawings for the front suspension using Readily avaliable donors?

Cant say that I'm an expert, or that I'm done with the suspension. I am using a mix of donors, mostly rx7 for the drivetrain, and s10 for the suspension.

The rear axle is easy if your going to use a solid axle, just follow the book dimensions, and make sure it's wide enough. I used some aluminum arms with heim joins on the end, and a panard rod the same design.

I'm also using the front spindles. Instead of making my own A arms I bought a set of westfield arms, and lengthened the bottom ones to fit.

I have used ford fox (mustang tbird zefoer ect 80's) front spindles with adaptors similar to the factory five cobra adaptors.

Several US builders have used Hi-Ace van spindles with Corolla GTS rears.

1982 Corolla.

Front suspension uses the stock lower ball joints, with homemade wishbones. The strut has been cut off, and a fabricated "cap" has been fitted, which has a 3/4" bolt passed through it to accept a 3/4" rod end. Lots of people have gone this route as well as using proper spindles, and it seems to work well.

I am using 83 RX7 ?GSL? - one model has the limited slip and rear disks.

I went out to the wreckers yesterday and took a look at the suspension from one of the Toyota Breadbox vans, and it defiatly looks like it would do the job.
I think this is the direction I'll take in conjunction woth the rest of the bits from a Corolla.

now its a matter of finding some drawings for this setup, or makeing some numbers up myself and throw them at a suspension program, see how they turn out.

Hasn't anyone looked at the Geo Tracker or Suzuki Samurai as a rear live axle donor? Seems like the right size...
