What type of steel section should be used to make an engine cradle (R1 engine)?
Cheers,
Oli
Was looking at the oval section in Subk2002 car The section is the same as on large ASDA trolleys.

the frame goes in a square round the engine and has four drop downs to pick up the engine mounts. These droppers have bosses welded on the ends (Look
like the inner sleeves in the polybushes) This pix shows the two lowers that come off the bottom tube

That cradle looks a bloody good job, I'm gonna have to find a mate who can weld to get it done properly as I don't want to spend 80 quid on
a pre manufactured one!
Whats the price on steel these days to make a cradle as in your pics?
Cheers,
Oli
A trip round the local neighbourhood pocket slapping shop to find a trolley or two.! My steel suppliers away on his jollys (back monday) will find
out. Could go by the factory that makes almost all the supermarket trolleys in GB located in Glenrothes........and ask to look in the
skip.....

theres less than a tenner of steel in that cradle. What are the drop downs made of on that, is it flat strip? id use 6mm, cos i got loads of it lying around.
