Hello,
I am interested to know what modifications are required to a book built chassis to fit a Vauxhall 16V engine?
Does anybody have accurate dimensions I could use?
Are there any major issues with building a locost for the 16V?
Cheers
Steve
No modifications went into my mates (billys) chassis. Its a book luego. 16v (westfield engine mounts) was mated to a carlton/senator getrag box which
had a bit of the cast bellhousing cut out to clear the start of the tunnel.
Sump was the original alloy one re-welded shallower into a gullwing design.
As a guide to where the engine sits the front lip on the cam cover (timing cover removed) is up against the rear edge of the nosecone. The bonnet sits
on with no modifications.
20XE
Ground clearance is'nt fantastic though - remote oil filter fitted to help but the limiting factor is the bottom of the vauxhall box which is
quite low - the same as the bottom of the modified sump.

haven't fitted my engine yet, but am not making any mods to fit the engine in. I've bought a shallow alloy sump (yes, i know the expensive
one) which fits nicely. I have an adapter bellhousing ot the type9, though might be changing this to fit he t5 box I've since bought..
