Suggestions for keeping chassis strength
02GF74 - 19/6/09 at 09:33 AM

Hello knowledgeable chassis peeps.

I am looking at cutting out section of lower rail - the area in red needs to be clear as that is where the starter motor bulge in bellhousing will go.

The engine mount rests on the rail running crosswise - the yellow one.

How would you suggest I fit rails and/or plates to maintain chassis strength?

I can go 3-D i.e. run rail from bottom to top but the exhasut sits on that side.

Firstly, well done, with that picture, assuming it's an F27 you've solved a question from another thread about an ebay chassis!

As for yours.. just move the whole chassis rail outwards and re-weld it in the corner going straight back. This is how it's done in the Locost and if it's fine for all those cars it'll be fine for you.

Cheers,
James

Thats what I'd do - it's what I've just done to an early Fury chassis , and match's where that tube is on later Fury's .

This is what I did - the new tubes are the shiny ones

Left side chassis mods

And the other side.....
