Uploading photos from laptop
I am sure it has been asked before, but how do I load photos from my computer to the Photo Archive. I have tried, but get the message unsupported
file. They are jpg's!
Anyone??

I don't know if there's a size limit... are they big files?
Otherwise, try ending the file with uppercase JPG instead of lowercase jpg (it may be pedantic!).

About 2 mb.
Is there a limit?

yes there is a limit, no idea what it is. try resizing first. Should be an option to do this in windows from 7 onwards. Copy them first so you have
the originals at there better resolution.

I am still on XP!! And I do not know how to resize, but before I do that I really need to know if jpg's are acceptable and what the max file
size is please.

I suggest if its a set of more than about 10 photos, then a photo hosting/blog site is probably better for you, especially if it can do bulk
uploads.(you can then put in image links on this site)
also note that the photo filename has to be unique across the whole locostbuilders website. (prefixing the filename with your username works well)

XP is dead easy - all you need is the image resizer that Microsoft developed as free extra
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_PowerToys#PowerToys_for_Windows_XP
unfortunately MS have removed the downloads now, but if you send me your e-mail address in a u2u and I'll dig them out of my archives
as for the size, 1280x1024 (or similar) will be plenty for most things - you can go bigger but you don't really need to...

jpg certainly works
Description
code: [ pg]116054[ /pg]
I see you already use photobucket too
code: [ img]http://i876.photobucket.com/albums/ab329/nilocp/th_mgbgt.jpg[ /img]
remove spaces from pg / img tags to get the images

Thanks gremlin, yes apparently I have used Photobucket!
So I can get my pics onto PB, how do I then insert them in a post? I can also get them into photo archive.
So what do I do next?

View the pic on photo bucket, the copy and paste the code with the [img] bit, or the thumbnail version, and paste it into the post on this thread....

you need to use either pg or img codes.
follow that link and it will show you forum code, and external code, just copy them
eg the forum code pg 116642:
code: [=pg]116642[=/pg]
but without the equals signs
external link has img tabs
code: [=img]http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/bits 002.jpg[=/img]
again without the equals signs.
edit apologies for the big (wide ) picture.
also if you hit quote message it shows the actual codes used to display the page.
