Avatar pic problem.

Hi

The url that i enter into the box when editing the avatar pic dose not show a pic on screen when checking on the forum. Just the red cross in the box.
However the text that i entered when editing changes from when editing to when i check the properties of the picture on the forum. !!

From this. http://locostbuilders.co.uk/upload/LBpic.jpg[/img]

To this. http://locostbuilders.co.uk/avatar.pl?LBpic.jpg[/img]

i think it auto sizes. I just put the img in question as my URL and its about half the size that it was in the photo archive

You learn something new every day.
Could have sworn i had the img at the end of the last one. And the auto resizing has saved me 5 min of work also. Fantastic.

Just hoping i have more luck with my new phone due to arrive in 1 hr.

Thank You.
Cheers Matt

oh yeah! i hadn't noticed that, btu they're all the same size!
something i'd mentioned years ago when the whole 'auto delete' thing came up. got a bit swept under the carpet lol

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yup, I got fed up of people moaning when Fozzie and I enforced the rules, so now they automatically resize, hence the change of URL.

Can't remember if the code works for externally hosted avatars... seem to remember that it doesn't, so you'd still get a warning (and auto-delete if you ignore it) if you linked an oversized image on another site.

EDIT: should also say that the resize process breaks animated avatars, so if you've got one of those, make sure it's within size limits otherwise only the first frame will get shown.
