Silverstone GP Circuit Trackday
Our Uni Motorsport Club has a trackday coming up at Silverstone using the full GP Circuit.
£130 for the day, not sure how good this price is compared to track day companies but seems quite cheap.
As normal with this sort of thing, loads of people have said they will do it, but not as many have paid yet so they are looking for extra people.
Is anyone interested?
Heres a bit of info
"Drive Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit!!!
We offering you the chance to bring your race prepared saloon/GT, single-seater or ordinary road car to drive round the home of the British Grand
Prix, The Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. We have hired the circuit for a Track day on the 13th February 2006.
There will be 3 sessions, for Race Prepared cars and high powered road cars, for road cars and novices and then a session for Open wheelers. They will
run from 9am – 5pm with a 1 hour lunch hour meaning you will get 7 20min sessions a total of 2hours 20mins on track.
All we ask is that the car is legal under the appropriate regulations (MSA or MOT rules depending on class) and that the car is under 105dB
All this will be for £130, it is fully insured and there will be instructors to help those novices.
This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to drive Silverstone GP Circuit for an incredible price"
Only problem is its a Monday!
If you are interested though or have any questions give me an email or U2U.

If the Indy was sorted it would be straight there.
I can't really afford to take the Rallye as it is my daily runner and cant afford for it to take a beating round the track. Very tempted at this
price though as I dont know when it will come up again, depends how well this one goes.
We do have our annual trackday at goodwood though which is good.

Is this the Oxford Brookes one? If so I know a couple of people going (from the fto owners club which i used to be a member), and I'm very
tempted to go myself. Want to make sure the car is fully sorted before I commit though (clutch which i think is sorted, and cooling which is work in
progress). If so then I'm definately there - sessioned track days at silverstone will usually be a lot more than this so should be a good first
track day in the Indy!
Have driven silverstone before (in the FTO and the TVR) but only for 20 minutes each. Hangar straight could be a bit boring in a BEC though ( waiting
for the corner whilst patiently red-lining in top )
When's the deadline for booking, I seem to remember from the forum I saw it
(http://tr0tt.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4200&page=1&pp=10 but
it's closed at the moment due to an accident) that it was end of 1st week in feb, so that gives me a week?

I plan to do this, but will leave it till the last minute to book, so that I have some idea of what the weather will be. I have no weather gear and a
three hour round trip plus 2 and a half hours on track in the rain is not my idea of fun. Their deadline is 6th feb.

Well perhaps not "boring" per-se, probably more like crossing fingers that the engine doesn't go pop before you slow for the corner
140? Don't think my Indy is geared for that, perhaps 120-130? (haven't had chance to test yet though).

Yep, you have the until the 6th to get them the money.
Hellfire asked about extra drivers, so i thought i would post here.
Apparently (only what i have been told) Silverstones insurance will only let drivers with MSA licences take passengers around.
As for extra drivers i think there is no extra charge, although i have just asked the organiser so will get back to you asap.
Also there will be some qualified race instructors available to take you round if you want it or need it.
Oh yeah and it is the Oxford Brookes trackday, 3rd one of the academic year so far, hopefully if we can get a few more people on this one it might
happen again.

Last chance for anyone to post their cheque to me for this trackday. Unless they can drop a cheque in Oxford on Monday.
U2U me for my address if you wish to post a cheque.
Also the rule about MSA liscence holders only allowed to take passengers might be dropped, but should be confirmed on monday.

Well that was fun A bit wet so made for some slippery conditions ( as a couple of cars found to their cost - the walls are hard :O ) The Indy
came out of its first track test unscathed though, which was nice
Lost quite a bit of track time to red flags, which is always the risk at sessioned days, but it was Silverstone so you can kinda put up with it for
the kudos

Forgot you said you were going, would have made more effort come and say hello!
It was a shame about all the offs, i think alot of people were going out and going hard straight away on cold tyres.
Geoff Kershaw who was in the turbo technics sierra span right in front of us, first fast session out after lunch, got to Hanger straight and he put
his foot down on a damp track with cold slicks.
Ended up with multiple split rims

Yes I was quiet surprised anyone was using slicks when it was still fairly damp at that time! Would have taken a while to get any temperature in
them!
