Lavenham (Suffolk) Motor Show
I usually have a wander round this on Bank Holiday Monday.
I must be getting old. As I walk past the cars I find myself saying, "I had one of those".

It would be useful if that website said where the event is being held in Lavenham! A map or something would be useful...
Still, Lavenham isn't very big, is it...

You cant miss it David. You park on the main road through and walk down a path. Theres a big field behind the church.

I found a nice piccy on Google Maps.
Will there be plenty of parking? And how much do they charge for parking/entry/whatever?
And what time does it start & finish?
(You may have guessed that I fancy a visit... )

It's on the cricket pitch, David.
I'll be there with the Libra. Possibly sheltering from the rain.....
See you there!

There are car parks around the village, and they run mini buses to the show entrance, park & ride, all free.
Just pay the show entrance fee.
They have a procession through the street lunchtime to the showground.
Loads of stalls and other bits and bobs to keep everyone happy.
No doubt it will be advertised in the local paper. I'll scan the add and post it tomorrow.

Thanks Paul,
There's a fair chance that me and t'missus will go there on Monday afternoon - weather permitting! It looks hopeful at the moment.
I'll be in the tin-top though... the toy car's not practical just at the moment...

I haven't been able to find out much other than the gates open at midday and it's a fiver to get in.
AFAIK some of the cars do a procession through the village and by the time they get into the ground it's 1 ish.
If I was in a low ground clearance car I would aim to park on the tarmac area at the Bury St Eds end of the village
and use the park and ride. It's what used to be the railway station.
Hope this helps

Coo... what a great day! Hundreds of really nice cars, some of them VERY collectable, and VERY valuable!
I'll post some pictures shortly...
We MUST get a LocostBuilders patch there in future...

Unfortunately, for some reason, I didn't manage to get a picture of my most lusted-after car - a 1920's/1930's 2-seater racing
Bugatti that must be worth a significant fraction of a million Pounds...
One of these...

I reckon that was an early 20s Type 13 Brescia, David. My father in law used to race against one in the VSCC
Sad to see you failed to capture that nice little red car on the Pistonheads stand.....

I didn't want to damage my new camera...
(And I thought it was a Bugatti 35, but you are probably right, it might be one of these...)
Very nice gull-wing mercedes there as well...

No David, it wasn't a 35.
However, I took this picture at Lavenham in 2005....
And this certainly IS a 35 (or derivative).
Possibly a 35B or 35C with it's supercharger.
Worryingly it was parked exactly where that Brescia was today......
You don't think perhaps the guy has one of each.....

Now you've got me David!
I've always thought the Brescia Bugattis were Type 13.
I shall have to do some research!

I think that the name 'Brescia' was used on a few models...
But I think you're right about this one - Type 13, circa 1920.
An 87-year-old racing Bugatti - should get one of those for a few hundred quid, I reckon?
Didn't notice any hats like this though...
