David Jenkins - 11/12/03 at 06:07 PM

Sounds like a fine idea...

David

Metal Hippy - 11/12/03 at 06:09 PM

I'm looking forward to that idea turning into a farce like the Southern xmas meet...

theconrodkid - 11/12/03 at 06:12 PM

FARCE? we just put this act on as a cover so you northern lot wouldnt be jelous, were all going to spain with alex on donuts private jet.so there

David Jenkins - 11/12/03 at 06:12 PM

The difference is that there are quite a number of builders within 30 minutes drive of Ipswich...

DJ

Metal Hippy - 11/12/03 at 06:19 PM

Ahh Ipswich...

My mum and dad lived there for a little while in the late 70s and my sister was born there.

I think that's reason enough to avoid it...

type 907 - 11/12/03 at 08:08 PM

You can count me in chaps.

Dave

garage19 - 12/12/03 at 11:02 AM

Count me in as well.

I should imagine Santcliff and Ferg from Colchester would prob be interested as well. All ready had a gathering 5-6 at Santcliffs house earlier this year to have a ganders at his nearly finished Indy.

As for a meeting place its gonna have to be a pub with a car park! The Sorrel Horse in claydon has a very friendly landlord who encourages car meets. The TVR owners club meet there once a month and in the summer every wednesday is a big bike meet. Grubs not too bad either!

Any other suggestions?

type 907 - 12/12/03 at 08:24 PM

Seems as good a place as any.

As its in Suffolk, surely its called the "Sorrel Hoss"

Now we just need the "when"

David Jenkins - 13/12/03 at 01:16 PM

As far as I'm concerned, any evening in the coming week, or the coming weekend.

David

type 907 - 13/12/03 at 04:35 PM

I can make Mon, Tues, Wed or Thursday.

I'm really looking forward to it.

timf - 13/12/03 at 07:21 PM

wednesday 7:00 onwards as agreed earlier

up yours hippy

but your welcome to come if you want

Metal Hippy - 13/12/03 at 07:46 PM

It's bad enough driving an hour to see the Yorkshire lot...

You really think I wanna see young Dave J again?

David Jenkins - 13/12/03 at 09:09 PM

So it's 7.00 wednesday at Claydon?

Sounds fine!

David

(Hippy - rearrange these words into a well-known phrase or saying - yours, up)

chrisg - 14/12/03 at 08:35 PM

Hippy you go, take no notice of the nasty men

(He spoilt our do, why shouldn't you have him for a change?)

BTW Will you lads have any finished Locosts or will you all be on tractors?

Cheers

Mr Popular.

garage19 - 15/12/03 at 11:19 AM

I can't read and I can't write,
but that don't really matter.
I support Ipswich town and,
I can drive a track'er (locost).

Will any one actually have a finished car to bring?

See y'all on wednesday!

timf - 17/12/03 at 08:37 AM

for those who arn't sure where the place is

http://www.sorrelhorse.freeserve.co.uk/Location.htm

see you all tonight

David Jenkins - 17/12/03 at 09:03 AM

Warning - I might be a little late (I'll try not to be!) - all depends on the efficiency (Hah!) of the railways...

BTW: How will we recognise each other - carnation behind the right ear? I might just about recognise Tim, but I don't know anyone else!

David

Well, the Suffolk Posse had its inaugural meeting / Xmas get-together this evening...
...proposed one Monday, achieved the Wednesday following - so what's the problem?

David

(Nice to put faces to the nick-names)

Seriously though, it was good to meet you all. If you ever fancy a trip "west" call in for a coffee. You'd be more than welcome.

DaveFJ - 19/12/03 at 09:26 AM

Have to second Tim's comments about type907's car - looking GOOD !

Had an interesting discussion about tim's 'boat engine' too !

As for my heap - anyone read the review of the Avon in this months Which Kit mag ?
After reading that I think I'll get one - oh bugger I already have... err do you think they reviewed the wrong car?

Dave

it's not a boat engine its a truck engine

as for the avon wk are going to build one

be interesting how it goes regarding fit
and how 'independant' wk really are

santcliff - 29/12/03 at 12:39 PM

oh, sorry i'm late; he says slowly emerging from a christmas fog and before disapearing into a new year fog.

i think there is a regular meet on thursdays at a pub near the dry ski slope. i'll try and find out more info for you tractor boys.

BTW, build update: DVLA says the VIN is in the post. New radiator fitted just needs plumbing (micra one in bin, capri 1.3 one inserted with the micra fan attached)

Paul, I'll skip the coffee and have a TIG welding lesson instead?!!

Santcliff, do you mean The Oyster Reach?
Me and the boss eat in there quiet a bit. Would be a good place for the spring Suffolk meet?

Doug.

type 907 - 29/12/03 at 07:04 PM

Hi Doug,

There's good news and there's bad news.

First the good news;

Your more than welcome to a TIG welding lesson. Email or U2U and let me know when. I'm off work all week?

Now the bad news:

You still have to drink my wife's coffee:

santcliff - 25/1/04 at 05:34 PM

Mike McKinstry - 13/2/04 at 10:19 PM

Not impressed by the site at all ..have always noticed the pitch empty at shows also..maybe the mk boys can liven things up and raise the profile of Suffolk in the KC world...Mike.

That is a poor show!

So when we having the next suffolk meet?

Now i have my chassis thing are really cracking on!

Maybe we could gate crash the meet near the ski slope?

Doug.

David Jenkins - 17/2/04 at 12:18 PM

Another Suffolk meet sounds like a good idea! Perhaps it would be worth ringing the bloke who advertised a group in the last Locost Newsletter - he was based in Beccles or Bungay I think.

I met up with those club folk a few years ago - nice people, but the club's a bit static... looking at their website they have exactly the same number of cars as they had 4 or 5 years ago!

I vote for staying separate for now, and review the situation later - perhaps they could join our group!
