DONINGTON 13/14th SEPT
bob - 22/8/03 at 06:15 PM

I've managed to secure some space for MK owners at Donington,i'll probably travel up friday night and put the banner up in the best place possible.

Deckman001 - 22/8/03 at 06:39 PM

Glad to hear it mate, have you secured the 'tent space' yet, might need a pitch meself

Jason

zetec - 22/8/03 at 08:30 PM

I'm going to try and get up Sunday. Has anyone booked track time on the day? They are quoting £25 for 20 min.

bob - 22/8/03 at 08:38 PM

I'm sure there will be a few on the track, but i doubt they will be as lucky as last year.

A few members paid the £25 and got day passes by mistake.

You know who you are

Bring a tent Kevin ,sat night is usually a good grin.

Peteff - 24/8/03 at 10:04 AM

£12.50 a lap, they can arse

yours, Pete.

locoboy - 27/8/03 at 02:47 PM

unfortunately not a locost owner but how do i enquire about booking a camping pitch for the saturday night?

Cheers

Colin

theconrodkid - 27/8/03 at 03:23 PM

bring food and come and see us,heres a recent photothere should be a banner with MK owners club on it somewhere near a large tree

locoboy - 27/8/03 at 03:50 PM

where is the recent photo then!

Jasper - 27/8/03 at 03:58 PM

U don't need to book a pitch, just turn up and pay your £3.

Spoke to the organiser this week, she gonna book some more and better loo's, and I've tried to talk her into showers as well, which she may well do. I'd rather pay another couple of quid and get clean.

Still not sure whether I'm going up Friday night or early Saturday........

ned - 27/8/03 at 04:04 PM

i'm not sure when to go up; either fri night or sat morning, what anyone else going up friday night?

Ned.

bob - 27/8/03 at 05:52 PM

I tried to talk her into showers as well (OOOERR) i even said i'd pay more for the showers.

You bloody peasants

Mmmmmmm..................complimentary shower gel.........

Cheers

His Lordship

Peteff - 27/8/03 at 10:19 PM

Can you do that on a barbecue in your hotel room, and wouldn't it be nicer with some vinaigrette than shower gel?

yours, Pete.

bob - 28/8/03 at 07:39 PM

Lobster thermodore is one of two things i've had in hotel rooms, cant remember what the other thing was but i know its something you seldom get at home

chrisg - 28/8/03 at 07:48 PM

Cheers

Chris

Jasper - 28/8/03 at 08:30 PM

Tickets arrived today - getting excited now - better get down to Waitrose and order my Ciabatta and Salad. Maybe I should ring the organiser again and see if she can install a nice capuccino machine

Whose got the digital projector organised??:

RoadkillUK - 28/8/03 at 09:03 PM

Got room for one more tent, occupants 2?

Car not finished yet so I'm hoping to buy some bits to finish

chrisg - 28/8/03 at 10:09 PM

If not, there's always the end of the runway!

The ground's so hard that you'll knacker your tent pegs in the field anyway!

James

Peteff - 29/8/03 at 05:41 PM

They knock into most ground with a good hammer.

yours, Pete.

chrisg - 29/8/03 at 06:33 PM

Like we had to at Le Mans - they're still there as the was no possible way of getting them out!!

Cheers

Chris

flyingkiwi - 2/9/03 at 08:24 PM

I could well be at Donnington that weekend (picking up me new wishbones! Yay, car will be able to roll!)

Wat I was going to say was that Mrs Kiwi works for Screwfix and get quite a nice discount, (20%) so if anyone going to Donny needs something from Screwfix give me a shout and I will see what I can get for you. (as long as its not a pillar drill or something like that!)

theconrodkid - 2/9/03 at 08:43 PM

yo kiwi,il have a pair of shades 31095,oh and a pillar drill

flyingkiwi - 2/9/03 at 09:42 PM

Mrs Kiwi here - If you're serious about the glasses, as the advert says "Should've gone to Specsavers"!!

But seriously, if there's anything you want, I can get 20% off anything in stock on the main catalogue (not including direct despatch items) and money must be provided up front.

We also get 20% from B&Q too.

I can see me shopping a lot soon - cool, I love shopping, especially with other peoples money

bob - 2/9/03 at 09:51 PM

Deckman001 - 2/9/03 at 10:14 PM

Jason

bob - 2/9/03 at 10:21 PM

Deckman001 - 2/9/03 at 10:24 PM

Jason

Rob Lane - 3/9/03 at 07:23 AM

I'm thinking of going down on the Saturday to visit the show in the 7.

Depends on weather and if I have any clutch left! Some of the winter projected changes to the car are gathering parts, including a new clutch plate.

Sunday is a large Classic Car Show and Autojumble at Newark, always worth a visit.

blueshift - 4/9/03 at 02:58 PM

Hello donnington-goers. Mackie and I are thinking of coming along, and maybe bringing my dad. We've never been before and have no idea what we're doing, so could someone give us a clue about how things work.. do you have to buy tickets? do you have to book to camp there? ermm.. anything else we should know?

TIA,

bob - 4/9/03 at 09:48 PM

no need to book for camping,i think its £4 a tent or caravan.

Not sure on entry prices might be worth looking on the organisers website.
http://www.limelight-exhibitions.co.uk

Show is on for sat and sun with cars on the track sunday.

They let you in to camp after midday friday which is handy for the peeps who put the miles in,only downfall is NO SHOWERS phew so we all hum a bit by sunday afternoon.

Bring some meat as its normally atkins diet for all sat night

paulbeyer - 4/9/03 at 10:19 PM

Bob,

Spoke to limelight this afternoon. They said they have arranged showers and toilets this year.

blueshift - 5/9/03 at 08:57 PM

So you just.. turn up?
Borrowed a mini 12V fridge for beers and burgers, looking forward to it.

steve m - 6/9/03 at 02:38 AM

Paul

They have said every year since 1999 there will be showers, but when you get there, were are they
they must have been nicked, coz I have never found them

bob - 6/9/03 at 08:25 AM

well i'll believe it when i see it.

there are normally showers when steve goes, just a bit cold though LOL.
Should be good weather this year as steves not going.

Jasper - 6/9/03 at 10:10 AM

Don't leave that 12v fridege plugged into your car overnight - it'll kill your battery!

Gonna arrive early Saturday am, one night camping is enough for me! (need the extra evening to make sure the engine is back in anyway!)

Peteff - 6/9/03 at 11:37 AM

Don't leave that 12v fridege plugged into your car overnight - it'll kill your battery!

leave the engine running, that should keep it charged up, it'll be cold enough without a fridge after sundown.

yours, Pete.

P.S. what's a 12v friedegg Jasper. Something to do with battery hens

blueshift - 6/9/03 at 11:43 AM

Might bring a separate battery to run the fridge, think I've seen one in an old cortina lying around here somewhere.. in my drive.

bob - 6/9/03 at 03:13 PM

I've tried that seperate battery idea, didnt work cos most 12v cool boxes cut out at 11.2 volts
(or somewhere around there) so they only work on the run.
The one i had would run on for about 15/20 mins and then pack up,i reverted to the trusty ice packs which at this time of year should do the trick for the weekend.

Surrey Dave - 12/9/03 at 08:48 AM

Am i right that as a Kit Car owner you get into the Donington Show for free!!

And that you can have 20 mins track time for £25

Do you have to wear crash helmets?

Do you need special insurance ?

Or do you just sign an indemnity....

James - 12/9/03 at 09:02 AM

So, are we going to arrange a meeting point anywhere/time?

MK stand at 11/12am or something?

Or are we gonna meet at the camp site?

Cheers,

James

[Edited on 12/9/03 by James]

bob - 12/9/03 at 09:47 AM

usual meets are MK's at 11 ish,if you miss us there you wont miss us on the camping area

blueshift - 12/9/03 at 01:45 PM

Are locost builders without anything to drive about yet welcome at the MK camping zone? Mackie and I will be looking for somewhere to pitch our tent. Nothing MK to show but we can talk the back end off a sierra

ned - 12/9/03 at 03:04 PM

just heard the forecast on the radio and they said dry and sunny

Ned.

RoadkillUK - 12/9/03 at 06:33 PM

OK, I'll see you there then

I don't think I'll make it to the MK stand at 11am thought, got to drive from Bradford and I'm notoriously late for everything so I'll probably see you at the camp site.

On a related note, will I be able to park my car close/in the camping area?

chrisg - 12/9/03 at 08:09 PM

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I won't be attending this weekend show.

Be brave, you'll manage, worse things happen at sea, stick together you'll get through this.

Others will be overjoyed at this news

but they are gay.

Cheers

Chris
