Croft NSSCC First & second races.
Andy D - 17/5/09 at 09:02 AM

Pete had his first taste of racing yesterday in the northern Sports & Saloon car Championship.
He's running a 1.6 Civic in class D, quallified 4th in class (out of 11) and 14th overall (from 30). The times in class D were very close with a couple of tenths covering the top four.
The race was wet! not the best conditions for his first one, but he managed to avoid the action in the first corner, and I think, drove a fairly lev el headed race. The Civic was going well in the greasy conditions untill he caught an Elise. He missed an early opportunity to pass it approaching Barcroft, but that's easy for me to say sitting here!

Anyway, he finished a creditable 4th in class, we think just in the top ten overall. Shall get the results today, when we go for race two! I think the race is about 3pm, if anyone's about, come and say hello.

Great result!

Shame he couldn't of passed the Elise as soon as he got behind him (easy for me to say too )

Great pics and video again as well Andy!

What's the No. 18 car?

skippad - 17/5/09 at 09:20 AM

It was the best turn out (competitors)
i've ever seen for DDMC event.
The numbers seem have been boosted by our friends north of the border (Scottish XR2's, etc.)
Lookin forward to today
Thanks to Frodo for free tickets!

Long Live Croft

No 18 looks like a Nissan 260ZX

Race two today. Grid positions were by second fastest qualifying times, so Pete moved up two places, 2nd in class, and 12th overall.

The race started dry, he got bumped down a few places off the start line, but managed to claw them back during the race.
Then it started to rain.. not good for the nerves of spectating dads! The class D cars started to get among the more powerful machinerey again, making overtaking difficult. Was praying for the chequered flag to drop, which it did.
After finishing yesterday 4th in class, and 9th overall, today he was rewarded by 2nd in class, and 8th overall, with the added bonus of a trophy!

The complete race is in two parts,

Part one

Part two

Superb bit of driving,in very difficult conditions, great result, even better considering its his 1st race.I think the white XR2 hand a bit more power than your Pete's Civic, he pulled a good 50 metres down the back straight every lap,but Pete certainly made up for it with better driving through the rest of the track

Paul, I reckon in the first race, wet, the lack of a LSD showed up especially out of the hairpin. But today when it was dry, there didn't seem to be so much in it.. Yes the Fiesta has a bit more power, but I dont think it's much more.

Hope you didn't get too wet on the way home. Nice to see you, and I'll try and remember to pop through to Croft on Monday, for your trackday.

Will fetch camera and crash hat...

There are some pro photos up HERE

It looks a bit like a badly put together kitcar. It did sound nice though, and was leaving some impressive "darkies" round hawthorn towards the chicane.
