13" Tyres
Hi,
I'm thinking of dropping down from 15" to 13" wheels and tyres. My car is road only and I don't really want to get R888 or
A048s for it as I think they will look out of place on my car.
The wheels I'm looking at are 5.5" wide and I have MX5 running gear so I'm probably looking at 175-70-13 or 205-60-13 for best
rolling radius for my speedo.
Any advice other than to splash out on the R888 or A048s appreciated. Maybe I should go 205 rear 175 front while I'm at it?
Cheers

205's to wide for 5 ½" wheels
On my 6" the walks slope in, 185's ok 195's marginal for 5 ½" IMHO

I had 205 a048's on the back of my Caterham and it had so much grip it made the road driving I use it for not a lot of fun (If you know what I
mean)
I went back to the 185 a059's all round and it's now so much fun.... The first corner you come to will put a massive grin on your face !

Car getting there
A021's - part of the suspension is in the flexing of the sidewalls
Without passenger - fab balance & drifting ..

5.5" is way too small for 205 section, you would need 6.5" or 7" really. Avon CR500 is an obvious choice or Yokohama A021R if you
don't want the R888 semi-slick look/feel.

Thanks for the opinions.
I figured 5.5 was too small for the 205s. Looking at Yokohama 185/70R13 A021R I prefer that type of tread on the car so may go for some of them.

Yokohama A539's get my vote unless you're actually looking to be competitive on track. I run 185/60/R13 all round on my zetec turbo westy
and they are quite a bit cheaper than the more track-focused rubber and much more fun on the road, which at the end of the day is the whole point IMO.
Predicatable, progressive and not bad in the wet.

I went with A021R in the end as I could get them in 185/70 keeping the rolling radius close to standard, and
I found them at £60 each + £15 carriage.
Local place fits them for £10 each so a pretty good price all together I thought.
