I don't think you can have too much power, however I would guess that much more than 300 or so BHP would be very hard to use
"That thing you're thinking - it wont be that."

The power is not the problem its how it is deployed, for instance with a turbo the power is very hard to use when damp as the power comes in so quick
you can get in trouble. but on the other hand if power comes in progressively it is great and you can control it.

It would also depend on what "seven style car",some chassis can cope with alot of bhp than others

Mine has abour 225 and then will be supercharged (to afraid to hypercharge it )
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Caterham Lavante and K2RUM
Search for the you tube video of these cars and K2RUM`s website. This demonstrates the high power runs. The K2RUM car broke a few major bits on the
chassis in the process.
The Lavante is just plain wild and very expensive...making hicosts car look locost
Some of the footage the pilot is just hanging on for dear life........

The Caterham Lavante is a track day supercar produced by British manufacturer Caterham. It has been in production since 2008. With a curb weight of
1,150 pounds and a 2.4 liter forty valve supercharged engine producing 550hp, this is the production car with the greatest horsepower to weight ratio,
approximately 1000hp per ton.

This is mine on the rollers with a Rotrex supercharged 1600CC 4AGE. You can see the first two runs were aborted due to wheel spin, just needed the
straps adjusted. On the road apart from dumping the clutch from a standing start its quite hard to lose grip and unsettle the car. The power graph
below shows how the power and torque grow very progressivly towards the redline. Very controllable in the wet too I usually just drive a gear higher
than in the dry.

Too much power? When the acceleration is so hard your eyes are blown into the back of your head

With regard to turbo charged cars, with a nice map and the correct size turbo power is available across the range, and with two stage boost or alike
its very easy to control.
very true .

I run just under 450bhp, and I cannot tell you just how much fun that can be.
